Development of education in Indonesia today demanding that the curriculum should emphasize the many problems of education (school problems, various schools, private education, interests and skills of students, and community, and many others). curriculum should be an emphasis on the skills of students.
The curriculum was developed based on the description of competence standards for basic skills as affective, cognitive, and psychomotor skills.
school mathematics has some character. Character is the school of Mathematics
(1) mathematics as a search pattern and activity relationships, which require mathematics as a creative imagination, intuition and discovery
(2) mathematics as an activity of problem solving, mathematics as communication.
There is a character of students studying mathematics, such as:
(1) students learn mathematics if they have the motivation, students learn math in their own way,
2) Students learn mathematics as individuals or companies with their friends, students need a different context and situation.
Curriculum created with the aim of developing their creativity, communicate with others their thoughts, etc.. To make it happen, we need to develop processes that emphasize learning mathematics in context and application in our lives. Ebbutt and Straker (1995) says that the math materials include:
facts, logical ability, the ability of the algorithm, problem-solving skills, investigative skills
these steps making a good syllabus:
a. determine the structure of mathematical knowledge
b. develop the basic competencies
c. make the material a good
d. know the students' learning activities
e. Make time allocation
f. Looking for reference and learning resource
